Sandra Oh Makes History Three Times Over At The Golden Globes

Sandra Oh had many reasons to celebrate at last night’s Golden Globe Awards. She was a solid co-host alongside Andy Samberg and she was nominated for Best Actress In A Television Series – Drama for the critically acclaimed Killing Eve. By the time the show ended, Oh has turned that nomination into a win and with that win, the former Grey’s Anatomy actress also made history.

Sandra Oh became the first actress of Asian descent to win multiple Golden Globes, the first person of Asian descent to host the ceremony, and the first woman of Asian descent in 39 years to win the Globe for best actress in a television drama. Oh won her previous Globe back in 2006 for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Cristina Yang on Grey’s Anatomy. In the lead actress category, you have to go all the way back to 1980 when Yoko Shimada took home the award for Shogun.
